This cozy little restaurant just east of the Bridge of Lions and a short drive from the center of historic St. Augustine.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2012\/09\/osteens-restaurant-st-augustine-florida\/osteens_sign\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-214\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-214\" title=\"osteens_sign\" src=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/osteens_sign.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"429\" height=\"259\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When you arrive, it sure doesn\u2019t look like much.\u00a0 But this plain brown building with no view always has a bench full of people outside waiting to get in.\u00a0 So put your name on the list at the walk up window and then take a seat on one of the long benches where you can chat with the locals or you can browse through the antique store that is right next door (don\u2019t worry, you can hear them call your name in the store as well).\u00a0\u00a0 Be warned that the wait at O\u2019Steen\u2019s can take up to two hours during their busy season.\u00a0 A tip for a shorter wait \u2013 consider sitting at the counter if there is only one or two in your party.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Once your wait is over you\u2019ll be seated in the close quarters of the diner.\u00a0 This family owned restaurant cooks everything fresh, from the sides (the squash casserole and sweet potato casserole usually go first) to the local Red Minorcan Clam Chowder to the fried chicken (the menu warns that it can take up to 30 minutes to cook the chicken).\u00a0 But their specialty is their shrimp.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2012\/09\/osteens-restaurant-st-augustine-florida\/osteens_soup\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-216\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-216 aligncenter\" title=\"osteens_soup\" src=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/osteens_soup.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"208\" height=\"155\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/osteens_soup.jpg 500w, http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/osteens_soup-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/osteens_soup-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 208px) 100vw, 208px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2012\/09\/osteens-restaurant-st-augustine-florida\/osteens_shrimp2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-904\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-904\" title=\"osteens_shrimp2\" src=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/osteens_shrimp2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"459\" height=\"387\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My family and I drive about an hour and half to visit this place every couple of weeks!
