We first stumbled on Simply Delicious Cafe & Bakery in May of this year as we were preparing for a live DISUnplugged Podcast <\/a>at the DISBoards.com\/Dreams Unlimited Travel Welcome Center<\/a>\u00a0in Cocoa Beach.\u00a0 We wanted to see if there was a place near the port and our Welcome Center that offered a decent\u00a0breakfast.\u00a0 We knew of several chain restaurants in that area but we were trying to find a gem – and boy did we ever.<\/p>\n

Our latest visit was just before Podcast Cruise 4.0.\u00a0 In case you didn’t know, we went with 300 of our closest friends on a 7-Night Cruise aboard the Disney Fantasy.\u00a0 It was an awesome time and I will be blogging about some of our food experience onboard that cruise, but I wanted to start with our pre-cruise meal.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Kevin and our good friend Heather <\/a>and I visited Simply Delicious on a busy Saturday morning.\u00a0 We were greeted by smiling, happy faces that seemed genuinely glad we were there.\u00a0 While the restaurant was a bit hectic (the place is a little small) everyone was in a good mood which seemed to make our breakfast a little nicer.<\/p>\n

We were sat very quickly and our drink orders were taken.\u00a0 Shortly after our drinks arrived we received a nice surprise at our table – some pre-breakfast pastries.\u00a0 One was a very light and flaky lemon cake, the other was a sweet and gooey caramel chocolate brownie.\u00a0 It turns out these were compliments of the owner, Chia.\u00a0 They were very good but the brownie was a little sweet for me for breakfast (which will seem ironic when you see what I actually ordered).\u00a0 They were both enjoyed by our table as we sipped our coffee and waited for our breakfast to arrive.<\/p>\n

Kevin ordered a Mushroom and\u00a0Swiss Omelet.\u00a0 This is his ‘go to’ dish and orders it pretty much every time we go out for breakfast.\u00a0 He really enjoyed it and as you can see from the picture it was huge.\u00a0 It came with their version of home fries which are baked\u00a0potatoes that are then fried in a skillet with onions.\u00a0 YUM!!\u00a0 I apologize for the blurry picture, I had to get it in fast before he started eating.<\/p>\n

Heather had the Eggs Florentine which were two perfectly poached eggs over spinach on homemade english muffins topped with a velvety hollandaise <\/em>sauce.\u00a0 Oh, did I mention that all of their baked goods are homemade and done on the premises.\u00a0 I think that’s one of the things that makes this place so special.\u00a0 Not only did Heather really enjoy it – we all did.\u00a0 The portion was huge and there was even left overs.\u00a0 It also came with a generous helping of fresh fruit.<\/p>\n

My breakfast is one I have had here before, the French Toast.\u00a0Again, the bread was homemade – big, soft and delicious.\u00a0Battered and fried beautifully it was then generously springled with powdered sugar.\u00a0 I did everything in my power to avoid wearing the powdered sugar for the rest of the day – at one point I was wrapped up in so many napkins\u00a0it looked like I was under a sheet.<\/p>\n

For my side dish I ordered extra crispy bacon.\u00a0 I LOVE their bacon.\u00a0 It’s cut thick and cooked perfectly.\u00a0 So good – wish I had some now.<\/p>\n
