{"id":2710,"date":"2013-01-03T14:49:58","date_gmt":"2013-01-03T14:49:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/?p=2710"},"modified":"2013-01-03T14:49:59","modified_gmt":"2013-01-03T14:49:59","slug":"royal-caribbean-cruise-line-allure-of-the-seas-free-eats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/?p=2710","title":{"rendered":"Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Allure of the Seas &#8211; Free Eats!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There is certainly no lack of food on any cruise ship.\u00a0 Options are available at every turn and at any time day or night.\u00a0 This was certainly true for our recent Royal Caribbean Cruise Line sailing on the Allure of the Seas.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the main dining room their are several specialty restaurants on the Allure of the Seas that are available at an additional charge.\u00a0 For now I&#8217;d like to focus on the free food options on the ship, excluding the dining rooms.\u00a0 I think you will be surprised at all\u00a0of the options available and the quality of the food.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s actually a little difficult to know where to begin, so let&#8217;s start from the top down.<\/p>\n<p>Located on deck 16 is the Windjammer.\u00a0 This is the buffet that is open for breakfast and lunch every day and dinner on select nights.\u00a0 It is convenient and offers a wide variety of foods, unfortunately it&#8217;s not always the best quality. I experienced one breakfast and one lunch here just so I can write about it but to be honest their are much better options on the ship.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re in a hurry and looking to grab something quick it&#8217;s certainly OK food, but why choose OK when you can have great.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2013\/01\/royal-caribbean-cruise-line-allure-of-the-seas-free-eats\/windjammer_sign\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2713\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On Deck 15 you will find the WipeOut Cafe.\u00a0 This is a grab and go location that is very convenient to the sports area of the ship (basketball court, table tennis, zip line, flowrider, miniature golf course, etc) as well as the teen area.\u00a0 Offerings will vary but\u00a0generally you will find nachos, tacos, pizza, hot dogs and hamburgers.\u00a0 However, my advise is to pass all of those by and go for the hot dog wrapped in a pretzel dough!!!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2013\/01\/royal-caribbean-cruise-line-allure-of-the-seas-free-eats\/wipeout_cafe_sign\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2722\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-2722 aligncenter\" title=\"wipeout_Cafe_sign\" src=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/wipeout_Cafe_sign.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2013\/01\/royal-caribbean-cruise-line-allure-of-the-seas-free-eats\/wipeout_cafe_hot_dogs_in_pretzels\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2723\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2723\" title=\"wipeout_Cafe_hot_dogs_in_pretzels\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You will also find the Solarium Bistro on Deck 15.\u00a0 This is open only for breakfast and is a buffet.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t eat here this cruise so I can&#8217;t say much about it, however it&#8217;s another option especially if you plan on spending the day in the Solarium, which is the adults only pool area of the ship.<\/p>\n<p>Deck 8 is home to Central Park.\u00a0 This is a truly unique space found only on the Oasis class ships.\u00a0 It boasts live plants and is open to the sky, which is much more impressive than it sounds.\u00a0 This area is home to many of the specialty restaurants that are available at an extra charge, all of\u00a0which I will blog about later.\u00a0 It also is home to our favorite free food location on the ship &#8211; The Park Cafe.\u00a0 In the morning The Park Cafe is open for breakfast and offers build-your-own-bagels, breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal and fresh fruit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2013\/01\/royal-caribbean-cruise-line-allure-of-the-seas-free-eats\/park_cafe_sign\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2740\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" 300px\" \/>However the real star comes out for lunch &#8211; the roast beef sandwich.\u00a0 Carved to order by a chef right in front of you; the meat is tender and moist and delicious.\u00a0 It is served on a salted roll and you have the option of adding au jus, horseradish and\/or mustard.\u00a0 There are also other condiments available if you prefer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2013\/01\/royal-caribbean-cruise-line-allure-of-the-seas-free-eats\/park_cafe_roast_beef_carving_station\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2737\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2737\" title=\"park_cafe_roast_beef_carving_station\" src=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/park_cafe_roast_beef_carving_station-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oh yeah, the Park Cafe has other options for lunch as well (it&#8217;s just hard to get past those roast beef sandwiches).\u00a0 These change throughout the cruise but there are paninis, soups, salads and sandwiches as well as desserts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2013\/01\/royal-caribbean-cruise-line-allure-of-the-seas-free-eats\/park_cafe_sandwiches\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2739\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" left.\u00a0 On Deck 6 is the Boardwalk.\u00a0 Again, exclusive to the Oasis class of ship it is like no other you will find anywhere.\u00a0 Several food establishments are here among the games and shops.\u00a0\u00a0In the\u00a0mornings you will find a\u00a0coffee station and a\u00a0self-service donut area.\u00a0 While not quite Krispy Kreme they are good, especially if you get there early when they are first put out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2013\/01\/royal-caribbean-cruise-line-allure-of-the-seas-free-eats\/donut_place_on_boardwalk\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2761\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2761\" title=\"donut_place_on_boardwalk\" src=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/donut_place_on_boardwalk-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/donut_place_on_boardwalk-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/donut_place_on_boardwalk.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also for breakfast you can eat at Johnny Rockets.\u00a0\u00a0For lunch this restaurant does have an extra charge but breakfast is free.\u00a0 It&#8217;s\u00a0really one the\u00a0few places where you can sit and be served a breakfast (as opposed to a buffet) and the food can be quite good.\u00a0 Typical breakfast fare includes eggs, bacon and french toast.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2013\/01\/royal-caribbean-cruise-line-allure-of-the-seas-free-eats\/johnny_rodckets_sign\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2781\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2781\" title=\"johnny_rodckets_sign\" src=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/johnny_rodckets_sign-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re on the Boardwalk around lunch time don&#8217;t miss the hot dog stand &#8211; The Boardwalk Dog House.\u00a0 This is more than just a boiled or fried dog on a bun.\u00a0 Seven different hot dog varieties are offered with a large array of condiments.\u00a0 Think of it more like a create-your-own hot dog.\u00a0 My two favorites are The Warsaw and The Sicilian.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2013\/01\/royal-caribbean-cruise-line-allure-of-the-seas-free-eats\/hot_dog_main_sign\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2758\"><img the\u00a0&#8216;street&#8217; and offers many different choices for food throughout the day.\u00a0 Donuts and pastries in the morning give way to sandwiches and desserts for lunch and evening
