{"id":2972,"date":"2013-01-24T16:04:41","date_gmt":"2013-01-24T16:04:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/?p=2972"},"modified":"2013-01-24T16:04:41","modified_gmt":"2013-01-24T16:04:41","slug":"making-meals-memorable-valentines-day-themed-meals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/?p=2972","title":{"rendered":"Making Meals Memorable:  Valentine&#8217;s Day Themed Meals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Nothing Says \u201cI Love You\u201d Like a Valentine\u2019s-Themed Meal!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Valentine\u2019s merchandise has been out in the stores since at least the day after Christmas.\u00a0 My kids are starting to plan what Valentines they will pass out at school.\u00a0 I\u2019m pretty sure I signed up to help in both the preschool and first grade Valentine\u2019s parties, on the same day&#8230;\u00a0 To give ourselves that lovin\u2019 feelin\u2019 (and to help me remember about those parties!), our family has been enjoying some Valentine\u2019s themed meals!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2013\/01\/making-meals-memorable-valentines-day-themed-meals\/valentines_pizza_before\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2978\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-2978\" src=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Valentines_Pizza_Before.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"442\" height=\"336\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the first meal, I let the kids help me make heart-shaped pizzas.\u00a0 Pizza is one of their favorite foods, so they loved this idea!\u00a0 To make our pizza, we used a tube of refrigerator biscuits.\u00a0 Lay out the biscuits, then just use a cookie cutter to form whatever shape you want.\u00a0 You could also use a roll of pizza dough or English muffin halfs, whatever you have in the fridge.\u00a0 The fun thing about these pizzas is that they\u2019re so quick and versatile and can be customized to whatever toppings your kids like (or that you\u2019re trying to clear out of the fridge).\u00a0 We used a little pizza sauce, mini pepperonis, and mozzarella cheese.\u00a0 These would be really cute for Christmas too \u2013 just use a Christmas tree cookie cutter, then add bell pepper ornaments in yellow, red, green and orange, with a pepperoni star!\u00a0 I also find that whenever my kids help in the kitchen, they\u2019re much more likely to eat the food.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2013\/01\/making-meals-memorable-valentines-day-themed-meals\/valentines_pizza\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2977\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-2977\" src=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Valentines_pizza.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"445\" height=\"730\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The pizzas were served with a few more Valentine-themed foods, which were quick to get ready while the pizzas were baking.\u00a0 In two of the ramekins, I turned a Valentine muffin liner inside out so the decorated side was facing up.\u00a0 The kids had blueberries with a heart pick, cherry cordial M&amp;Ms, and strawberry yogurt with Valentine sprinkles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/2013\/01\/making-meals-memorable-valentines-day-themed-meals\/valentines1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2976\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-2976\" src=\"http:\/\/foodietales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Valentines1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"442\" height=\"336\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Our next \u201cmeal\u201d was a little bit of sugar overload, so of course, the kids loved it.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t do anything fancy here, but when put together, it looks really festive!\u00a0 Their muffin tins had a container of strawberry applesauce, a heart-shaped chocolate and some heart-shaped marshmallows, which were served with a food pick.\u00a0 The top row has strawberry slices that have a V cut out of the top so they look like hearts. The strawberries have another food pick with them.\u00a0 I\u2019ve talked about them before, but these food picks are the greatest things!\u00a0 I have them in all different themes and the kids just love them.\u00a0 Even if we\u2019re not doing a theme meal, I\u2019ll often put one into a lunch just to add a little element of fun.\u00a0 The other items are a container of red Jello and a piece of heart-shaped toast.\u00a0 The toast is buttered and has red sugar sprinkled on it.\u00a0 This may sound weird, but it\u2019s actually really good and is something I remember trying to sneak as a child when my mom wasn\u2019t looking!<\/p>\n<p>As you can see from the photos, neither of these meals are anything fancy.\u00a0 They\u2019re just made with things we had around the house, but the kids loved them!\u00a0 Remember, it doesn\u2019t take much to make your meals memorable!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nothing Says \u201cI Love You\u201d Like a Valentine\u2019s-Themed Meal!
