Looking for a good lobster roll?\u00a0 Yes?\u00a0 Well here is a very small, out of the way spot that\u2019s worth a visit.\u00a0 Bramhall\u2019s Country Store in Plymouth, MA is off the beaten path, but still fairly easy to get to.\u00a0 The Store itself is a bit \u201crustic\u201d.\u00a0 Its not built to look that way, it is rustic because it is old.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When you look at the place from the outside you realize that it reflects a simpler time.\u00a0 A time when things were just as they seemed, without airs of ostentatiousness.\u00a0 As the name implies, this place was once an old country store and there are still antiques available for sale inside.\u00a0 When you look around in there you get the impression that some of these \u201cantiques\u201d were actually originally used in the store at some point.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ok, you say, so its old but that doesn\u2019t qualify it for a FoodieTales review.\u00a0 Absolutely correct!\u00a0 What qualifies it for a FoodieTales Review is one of the best lobster rolls you\u2019ve ever had.\u00a0 A lobster roll that is served in a butter grilled, New England style hotdog roll.\u00a0 A lobster roll that doesn\u2019t include fillers, bread crumbs, celery or anything but just the tiniest amount of mayonnaise to help hold it together.\u00a0 In short, a lobster roll that is just plain yummy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As noted above, there is nothing fancy about this place.\u00a0 In fact, when you first look at it you may have serious doubts that you are at the right place. \"\"<\/a>However, a closer look will reveal that you can buy fresh, locally grown vegetables at a very small stand.\u00a0 You can also buy freshly caught live lobster, which are on display in the tank outside.\u00a0 Prices certainly seem right too.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Oh yes, we are here to review their lobster roll.\u00a0 Lets get it!\u00a0 You order your roll at the small outside window under the cover of a temporary canopy.\u00a0 Again, nothing fancy.\u00a0 As you look beyond the order taker and into the food preparation area you realize that this is no mass production operation.\u00a0 Each lobster roll is built to order.\u00a0 The New England style hotdog roll is buttered and toasted before being filled with lobster meat that as been only slightly moistened with mayonnaise.\u00a0 So lightly moistened that I couldn\u2019t even detect a mayonnaise taste, which suites me just fine.\u00a0 Some people apparently expect there to be more mayonnaise on a lobster roll.\u00a0 To satisfy them, Bramhalls includes a separate package of mayonnaise on the plate when they give you your roll.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

When your lobster roll is ready its brought to you on a paper plate with a bag of chips, salt & pepper packets and the aforementioned mayonnaise packet.\u00a0 You get your own paper napkins from the dispenser.\u00a0 Seating is meager, with just three octagonal picnic tables outside.\u00a0 That\u2019s it.\u00a0 Again very simple.\u00a0<\/p>\n

My wife Valerie and I really, really enjoyed this lobster roll.\u00a0 The lobster was very flavorful, which is a good indication of how freshly caught the lobsters were.\u00a0 The toasted roll is the traditional New England presentation of this regional specialty.\u00a0 Bramhalls lobster roll (with chips) costs $12.95.\u00a0 The price of lobster is volatile so prices may change to reflect the market.\u00a0 We will definitely be stopping there again.\u00a0 Maybe we\u2019ll even buy some lobster to cook ourselves.\u00a0<\/p>\n
